At this point, I was happy to get this, my best yet American White Pelican Shot. Makes for a good calendar shot for that notorious bird butt calendar.

After camp staff confirming that there was indeed a Great Horned Owl nest just behind the horse barn (hence the begging calls I heard morning and evening leading up to this), I decided to try to find it and was surprised that I found these two chicks together on a branch and a little approachable.
What was even better was that I had the camp camera in my hand for the week to take pictures. But little did I know what was in store the rest of the week.

Kills me that I couldn't have centered that shot just a litte better to include the wingtip.

It never ceases to amaze me how good God is! And his timing for these sort of opportunities are always perfect! Not just at any time, but when I need a hug from him. And to think that God answered my prayers for a DSLR camera to use at this camp, see these birds, AND get shots like this. WOW!
Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Not hard telling these two apart. What I don't know is if this represents any sort of gender differences.

Many a picture of this chick checking and even playing with something in its talons. Not sure what, but maybe a peice of bark it tore off the branch?
